EPIC match was truely EPIC.

Have an epic battle you want to share? Came here to vent?

EPIC match was truely EPIC.

I'm barely a new member, but I have played my most EPIC match of the entire year last night. I was playing against a guest, called himself Vesper. Because I was curious to see how how it would go down, I decided to try a large arena size for the first time, adjusting squadron size to go with it.

In the first game? He gets two smart bombs near the beginning of the game. Needless to say, he obliterated me. Then, we play again, agreeing that being that damned lucky on his part was unfair. We play on for a while. Again, he finds a smart bomb. Eventually, I'm down to three pieces, one of which is tripwired in the upper left corner. He's got something like 15 pieces. The middle of the arena was row trenched, and I was seriously crippled in every sense of the word. Earlier in the game, I used a combo of Teach row and beneficiary, so one of my pieces was well buffed and ready to fight on for a while.

Due to the longevity of our battle, you would not believe how wartorn the field was. Oh, and he also called his invisible piece "Naruto". Anyway, I don't remember what series of events happened that helped me, but I managed to recruit several of his pieces. To the point where we're 9-8. But then, though I managed to teach a couple of my pieces what my buffed piece had, he pilfered all 20 of my destroy radials along with all the other stuff I had on that same piece. Then he teaches them to 3 of his other pieces, does a 2x on them AND he had pilfer rows and recruit columns. Which meant that his 4 pieces restricted my every other pieces to the four corners of the arena. And so, the next couple dozens of turns become a mad dash to find Grow Quadradii. All while keeping him at bay with my own Pilfer Rows, I look desperately for a Grow Quadradius.

And then when I find one, I also find a recruit row nearby. Which would seriously help my victory. But then, when he figured out he was done for, so he decides to resign. And curious thing, he could have dodged my recruit row. He had spywared my piece. He'd only have had to look my inventory and move it.

Final tally (These are approxiamte):

Time taken: 90-120 minutes
Turns Taken: 594 turns
Score: Vesper-6
Gameguru-1x

Truely a satisfying battle.

Seconded.

That really is poor play, I mean a 90-120 minute match, no matter how badly you are going to loose after playing for that long why just give up in the closing turns. And on top of that he had 6 left! its not like he was down to 2 pieces with no powers.

A truly epic game would have ended heroicly, not in someone resigning in defeat. For the best match of the year, please refer to this:

That was by far the best game I have ever played. And Slaski, despite his record, is a voracious opponent.

Yeah, I read that one. Quite a match if ya ask me. Only thing is you missed the part where I said it was MY greatest match of the year. I don't remember playing either you or Slaski, so...

Me too, man. I wish we had videotaped that. What times you usually on?

Furthermore, I had a similar game today, where like 6-7 columns of my pieces were triprowed in the first dozen turns. Ended up winning that 13-0 against Drea. Guess I'm just lucky. :-P

You want a truly epic battle? May I present the following:

The evolution of a beat down.

I played this just right. I managed to get a recruit column, and then just hovered at the top of the board. My buddy earthling moved into my path with a piece with grow quad and some other shit. Not sure what all transpired after I snagged that guy, but I know I taught a row the 2x, so I had a bunch. His guy I stole also had beneficiary on it. So, I snagged my grow quads and a grip of 2x, along with all of his weapons. I kept pilfering his pieces and this is what resulted:

A humble, yet still powerful, beginning for a mighty, mighty piece:

Then, after a little pilfering and a little 2x'ing:

And finally after some teach row, more 2x and some other shit... the king pimp muthafucka and his court (the quad is on the left, the taught piece is on the right):

The funny thing is, with all that power; with all that raping and pillaging; not one single destroy or acid weapon. I could have done a recruit radial and been done with it, but where's the fun in that?

that's cool but it leads to a bunch of copy cats that drag out wins and cry when you finally tell them u are going to resign from their personal game of Animal Crossings

You have a point. But, I was playing my best friend "earthling" and we were having a laugh at it. I was trying to see just how much power I could I build up, since something like this only doesn't happen often. You can see some of our dialogue on the side. I was telling him to be patient and let me pimp that piece out and we would both have a good laugh when it was all decked out.

That's correct. I just copy and pasted my powers onto the piece on the right so both pieces' powers were showing on one screen. There are no modifications to anything else. It's 100% legit. :)
