Getting to know you...

The debated theory that a life can exist outside of the QR Arena

Postby Dancomono » Tue Jul 03, 2007 2:26 am

My name is Dan.
I'm 23 and from Chicago.
Closet skeletons include being an Eagle Scout, hundred of dollars spent on MtG back in the day, and writing for a video game blog.
I also write music for a Chicago web publication.
I am also a music director at an independent radio station.
I pay the bills by being a green (eco-friendly) carpenter.
This should explain everything else.

nice. Whats up man. Speaking of Being green and from Chicago. I heard this interview with Perry Farrell about his new band Satellite Party and this years Lallapallooza. The show in chicago will be the first to leave no "carbon footprint" whatsoever. He chose the location due to the city making efforts to go green. I had no idea

Hey Dan,

Which Chicago web publication do you write for?

If you're not comfortable posting on the board, shoot me a PM. I'm somewhat involved in the music biz myself, would be interested in what you're doing.

Hmmm... Chicago music web site... Pitchfork? This dude doesnt seem to have his head too far up his ass, so I will count that out.

Ha, Pitchfork is what I was getting at. Turns out Dan doesn't write for Pitchfork, which is probably a good thing for the general geniality of the qmunity.

I'm just really digging on Cloetta Paris lately, has anyone heard her? I mention because the Fork dropped her name the other day, I was happy she got some exposure. She does a synth-driven indie-techno sort of thing, I think they call it Italo-disco.

Amen to that. But definite applause for the reduced carbon footprint biz. Now if they could figure out how to not make two landfills full of plastic cups from all the beverages...

No, I don't write for the 'fork, but I know a lot of that crew personally. They're generally a good group of folks IRL, but we all know how easy it is to criticize on the internet. And I almost took a job writing their news feed...

compared to Jane's and even that first Porno4Pyro albumn, it is really hard to do anything good when you let good shit die- you just shake you head and wonder why the fuck do they NOT tour...

even back during the Nothing's Shocking tour when i saw them at the TLA and hung with Navarro and Eric afterwards.. Stephen and Perry went straight to the bus

I guess too much Soul Kissing :0

Having been bestowed "official" non-n00b status - whatever that means, I thought I would contribute to this thread.

- I am originally from a small country in South America but have been a full Gringo for more than half of my life.

- I currently live in Boston, but call San Diego home.

- I work in medicine/research helping cure cancer.

- I am horribly overeducated (and technically still training).

- I am older than everyone who has posted their age in this thread thus far.

- I sometimes play QR with my wife (although she plays as a guest) who sadly, can beat me with regularity.

- My son is not so good at QR since he just pounds the keyboard in an age-appropriate manner.

- If I didn't have to work, I'd be Nitrox diving from a liveaboard in Palau.

- While that is fantasy, I will be shore-diving from La Jolla in 3 weeks.

- I'm a fairly private person and therefore, being a bit cryptic out of habit. However, I have little to hide!

- And while I have not posted a picture of myself (Rhox and Rob have shown how practical that is!), my Avatar is a remarkable likeness of me at that age.

Does that mean you're post-op?
