"Viral Attack"

I suggested this before but I think it's so frickin' cool: you give enemy pieces a nano infection. Infected pieces have a single-digit timer grafted onto their shell somewhere, counting down turns. In (for example) four turns, that piece will die and spread an infectious cloud of nanobots to surrounding pieces on its side, at which point those pieces now have the timer and four rounds to live.

These pieces also get a self-destruct button they can use at any time, which kills the piece early but prevents the infectious cloud.

Of course, purify would heal this.

I kinda like this idea, it would be cool to combo with something. For instance, if you infect a piece and the opponent is trying to get clear of the rest of his pieces you can trench them to restrict movement, or scramble the row to gamble at getting them in the back row.

i would think it would be more interesting to have it infect anyone in the radius. that way its more of a gamble to use this on an opponent. but it makes more sense too.

Very cool concept...just seems like it could be really powerfull...if the torus dies and the cloud is spread, would it infect just your tori or both team's tori? Personally, I'm all for it infecting both.

I think it should be opponent only. If you could create a weaponized self-propogating nanobot cloud that systematically targets and invades circuitry, wouldn't you give it a friend-or-foe detection system? Sure you would.

Of course, it could be both, just like we have destroy and kamikaze.

Or, here's another place for a tiered power: stage one, effects everyone. Stage two, opponent only. It could also become more powerful, perhaps.

good point. i hadn't realized we were dealing with nanobot clouds. i think it might just be a question of whether or not the technology was available to you in the battlezone, or if the motherland had it in their military budget.

my vote is for tiered power.

also, nanobot is a pretty hilarious sounding word.

NANO-BOTS FOR THE MOTHERLAND!!!!!!

i think the tierd power idea is cool! but it could get really out of hand and end a match!!! like if the 1st orb you get is "The VIRAL ATTACK" (insert scary music) and it was cured, the next thing you no BAM all the torus as sneezing a coughing everwhere and then they die!

I see P Monie's point... Im with Josh for Tiering (hope thats a word or horseclaw will rip me to pieces, much like i beat him in the arena last night) The infect could be far too poweful if its first function is to kill only oppenents. Im all for having it take out anyone and everyone. After all, real viruses know no sympathy for who you are. They kill everyone.

An alternative to tiering is a complimentary power called Gasmasks or AntiVirus Software, or something like that. So then the infection power would be purely a kamikaze-type thing, but you could at least use the Gasmask power to protect some of your guys. I'm thinking you'd have to use this power BEFORE the infection, as a preventative step. Only Purify would actually cure the shit.

This would also lead to interesting stratagies where you try to rush the oppoenent with your infected guys.

I like this as much as tiered version. Either would be really interesting.
